Obama’s Youth Corps Expands

The Obama administration is launching its 21st Century Conservation Youth Service Corps, or 21CSC, Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft writes.

The 21CSC details are less significant right now than who and what is behind this.

Hoft links to a 2009 speech delivered at Powershift 09 by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, in which he said:

You gathered here with powershift 09 as young people from the ages of 18-30 you are the engines of change, you are the engines of change.

I’m here tonight for Barack Obama because he is an agent of change.

But we can not accomplish the change we need to accomplish for our world, for our country, for our communities, for all of you, for all of our families unless we have the young people of our country and the world involved.

Hoft comments, “That’s the purpose of this new Obama initiative. To indoctrinate America’s youth so that they will push for more radical socialist anti-energy redistributive policies.”

As always, there’s more to the story. Who or what is Powershift 09?

I wrote in February 2010 about an astroturf operation called Energy Action Coalition. EAC is the organization behind Powershift 09.

As I wrote previously, EAC’s about page states it was founded in June 2004 by “youth climate leaders.” Energy Action “unites a diversity of organizations in an alliance that supports and strengthens the student and youth clean and just energy movement in North America,” it states.

Energy Action claims “36 active and 14 supporting partners” that “work together to leverage our collective power and create change for a clean, efficient, just and renewable energy future” by “addressing climate change by winning clean energy victories at the local, state, national, and international level – all while growing and strengthening the clean energy movement among young people from all walks of life in the United States and Canada.”

Actually a coalition that includes a number of coalitions, Energy Action’s 50 member organizations include many familiar names:

. Local PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups, like NYPIRG for which Barack Obama worked after “graduating” from Columbia in 1983, founded by anti-capitalist Ralph Nader).

. Campus Progress (an arm of the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress).

. Global Exchange (the “anti-war, social justice organization that condemns American foreign and domestic policies” founded in 1988 by “pro-Castro radical Medea Benjamin”).

. Green for All (co-founded by former Obama admin “Green Jobs” Czar and avowed communist Van Jones).

. Hillel (which “promotes itself as the largest Jewish campus organization in the world and is known as the center of mainstream Jewish life on campuses across the U.S.” and Aaron Klein wrote about January 29).

. Rainforest Action Network (an activist organization that “conducts negative publicity campaigns and boycotts of companies whose activities it deems harmful to the environment, particularly rainforests and old-growth forests”; participated in 1999 WTO protest riots in Seattle”; and took “part in anti-Israel and anti-Iraq-War rallies”).

. The Ruckus Society (which “trains radical activists in ‘direct action’ techniques” and “sparked violence in Seattle WTO protests”).

It is enlightening that Salazar found himself so at home with such fine company.

Don’t think for a moment Salazar is not on-board with these programs. In June 2009 he created the Office of Youth in Natural Resources. The Youth Conservation Corps announcement states:

Its purpose is to coordinate present and future youth initiatives, including the creation of 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps within the bureaus at the Department. The corps will be modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps that provided three million men with jobs in the 1930s. By comparison, the 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps will include women as well as men and strive for greater diversity.

It is even more enlightening to see where we are now headed — another Obama scheme to spread the wealth. The spread, however, will more than likely extend to the very same radical groups supporting Powershift 09 and behind Energy Action’s coalition.

It is also enlightening that Hoft’s article set off Media Mutters, causing them to retaliate with some more astroturf read only by its devotees.

MMFA writes: Hoft “erroneously called [21CSC] ‘the American Conservative youth Corps’ and Youth Corps of America.”

So, now it’s a crime — according to MMFA — to shorten the title on an organization even if that organization shortens it’s own title in its literature?

Now, please hold on. MMFA also criticized Hoft for daring to declare 21CSC a “radical initiative.”

Only MMFA’s Soros stenographers could write something like that with a straight face (assuming they weren’t snickering like we are, that is.)

If EAC and Powershift 09 are not backed by radicals ….
