Vs. Confederate Fakes
Bill Roggio, Long War Journal, posts this video of a small piece of a two-hour presentation by General David Petraeus of CENTCOM re the Iraq conflict and the well-documented and unchanged aggression of Tehran against the US forces.
Setting aside the logic of Petraeus’s remarks — that Tehran is making war on the US while the Obama administration continues to entreat Tehran to an appeasement deal on nukes and the Gulf — consider David Petraeus as a presidential candidate. The Union candidate.
The warrants are political, not military. By fall 2010, after the Congressional elections, the US will be struggling under the second full year of a jobless recovery after the longest recession since 1945. No administration can bear up under the jobless numbers that are projected now — and the joblessness is intimately connected to the housing market crash that may last six years.
Meanwhile, the GOP, a fractured, simpering, self-satisfied, clumsy, demagogic job fair of Confederate fakes and sore losers, will be searching for candidates to run in 2012. The stated choices as of now are Romney, Huckabee and Palin. Only in comparison to a cartoon Democratic candidate, half Lenin and half Goofy, does this trio of personality celebrities compete credibly.
Consider Petraeus in the game. Will the war be concluded by New Year’s 2011? Will Tehran be tamed by appeasement? Will Iraq and Afghanistan be quiet? Will Jerusalem be divided neatly into Hamas and Fatah and the Jews, all attending street festivals? Consider Petraeus.

Petraeus? hmmm interesting.
I notice little mention has been made about the release of the Iranians who were instrumental in training Iraqis in killing US soldiers. Was the Iraqi govt strong-armed by the idiot Obama admin in releasing these people? Do the idiots in the Obama admin really think this “good will” effort will change Iran from training killers and sending them back to Iraq?
Once more it’s white noise coming from the Dems ie, Cheney, CIA, to hide what is really going on. Have the bloggers and the media fallen for it once again?
Yes indeed…Petraeus sounds pretty good. I would have never thought of that.
David is an intelligent man. He has proven his discretion worthy on the battlefield, but has been limited on action due to the political attributes of the war. General Petraeus has my vote.
at least the General, we KNOW, is an American and eligible for the office. And the GOP trio mentioned above give me nightmares in a variety of ways. Throw in Newt and we will be stuck with Barry for another three terms (sic)
He may try that anyway….
and I BET unemployment will hit 20% in Obama’s first term. If this happens, expect Marshall Law and not elections in 2012.
Freedom Fairy makes an important but grim point. The 9.5 unemployment number is already massaged. Add the underemployed and the people who have literally given up, the numbers are already between 16-18%, possibly higher. It’s going to get worse and a “jobless” recovery is a total crock. No jobs means no tax base, unemployment payments out the ying-yang, pensions cratering and lots and lots of angry citizens. All of this nonsense is floating on gargantuan debt [that no one will admit, of course].
California is the canary in the mine shaft.
Marshal law and no elections may have sounded like an off-the-wall prediction a few years ago. But no more.
We’re headed toward the season of “gird your loins.” Worse yet, we’re being lied to day-in, day-out.
We may need a Petraeus to keep the peace!
