Perhaps you’ve already heard about this shocking act of disrespectful un-Patriotic un-American behavior by New York State Senate Democrats who were caught on tape refusing to stand during the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag.
Dan Spencer of the Right Side Politics Examiner reported June 30:
- The Senators can play all the political games their constituents will let them get away with, but they should not disrespect the Flag of the United States of America.
They should know better.
United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10 – Patriotic Customs, provides:
- §172. Pledge of allegiance to the flag; manner of delivery
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, ‘I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’, should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute.
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air comments:
- [...] behold the latest in blogospheric outrage: Democrats refusing to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance! In this case, though, the context actually improves the story. This takes place in Albany, where the New York state Senate remains locked in a power struggle in an evenly divided chamber. Rather than an insult to American patriotism, the Democrats here engaged in an insult to the intelligence of New Yorkers

Is petulance the highest form of patriotism? After all, according to the Democratic leader of the California assembly, dissent is apparently now terrorism. Maybe the Democrats on the other coast want to make tantrums and sandbox tactics into democracy.
In this case, the refusal to stand comes as the culmination of a series of childish gestures. One member plays exies no erasies with the podium, while her colleagues try to make the chamber into the Democratic Club playhouse (no Republican cooties allowed!). When Republicans try to start the session on their own terms, the Democrats refuse to acknowledge their authority to do so — which is why they remained seated, except for one Democrat, who got pulled back down by his desk partner.
Maybe it’s time for New Yorkers to send blankies to their state Senate and insist that their elected representatives take nap time, followed by lessons on sharing. Everything these people know, they learned in kindergarten — or maybe pre-school.
Spencer adds:
- Perhaps the New York Democrats learned flag etiquette from Presidential candidate Obama.

Disgusting. I must repeat…I am ashamed to have ever been a democrat.
There must be something in the water in NY…
1. Voters keep picking up the tab for the crooked Charlie Rangel, arrogant Chuckie Schumer, and their ilk.
2. see RBO article on NY councilpersons backing the closure of schools to allow for the celebration of an Islamic festival at/around September 11th!
If/when some Americans wake up to realize the type of people it is that they’ve been putting into office, the backlash will be ugly. How would the early Colonists have dealth with this trash? By exercising what would become their Second Amendment rights, that’s how.

That picture of Obama never fails to infuriate me. This Fourth of July it should be plastered above the fold on the front page of every newspaper in the US.
I believe Barack Obama studied the Constitution not to uphold it, but to destroy it.
Lets face a simple truth, Democrates do not like this country the way it is and seek to change it, they are NOT as patriotic as those on the right. Those on the right LOVE this country and those on the left would LOVE to change it.
