Friends of Obama — 2001

November 5, 2008 by Procrustes

On September 2, 2008, RBO began working through Obama’s Illinois State Election Board records for his Friends of Obama political action committee, which commenced in 1995.

To date, RBO has documented:

  • Accountability: Friends of Barack Obama 1995-1996 records.
  • Individual Itemized Contributions for 1995; 1996; 1997; 1998.
  • Non-Individual Contributions 1995-1998.
  • Individual Itemized Contributions and Non-Individual Contributions 1999 and 2000.

Note: Non-Individual Contributions include those made by political action committees, professional associations, corporations and lobbyists.

2001 Campaign Contributions Overview

Total receipts for 1/1/2001-6/30/2001 were $57,500:

  • 43 Individual Itemized Contributions totaling $23,975, plus $15,000 that was not itemized.
  • 29 Itemized Transfers totaling $17,550, plus $975 that was not itemized.

Total receipts for 7/1/2001-12/31/2001 were $84,191:

  • 87 Individual Itemized Contributions totaling $46,900, plus $13,791 that was not itemized.
  • 42 Itemized Transfers totaling $21,550, plus $1950 that was not itemized.

2001 Brief Time Table

  • 2001 – “Obama was coauthor of a law that created a tax credit for people who donate land, buildings or construction material to help develop low-income housing.”; “Illinois state Rep. Jack D. Franks, a Democrat, lauded the bill, which garnered near-unanimous support. But Franks said that while the measure helped Obama’s low-income constituents, it raises questions because his law firm’s clients could have benefited from it.”
  • 2001 – Rezko’s business began to crumble. He “stopped making mortgage payments on the old nursing home that had been converted into apartments”; state foreclosed on building in Obama’s Illinois Senate district.
  • 2001-2002 – Woods Fund gives money to the Arab American Action Network (AAAN).

You’re doing some awesome detective work! Thank you for sharing.

This is difficult, and unfortunate material, but it is true.

If our government is to get better, if the electoral process is once again to have integrity, the corruption MUST be exposed.

What is common knowledge in IL, and Chicago, seems to befuddle the rest of the country.

    Very sad.

I also wonder as to Obama’s role in Chicago’s bid for the ‘16 Olympics.

I don’t understand, if Chicagoans at large are fed up with corruption in that town, how they could possibly cast a vote for Obama.

I was reading over at the Beachwood Reporter and the logic Rhodes used to cast his vote for Obama yet he always talks about the corruption in Chicago and Obama’s links to it.

Are the people in Chicago so entrenched in the corruption themselves that they are numb to it? If the people don’t want change why should the politicians do anything other than what the people expect from them?

Just to set the record straight, I didn’t vote for Obama. Read what I wrote a little more closely.

“2001 – “Obama was coauthor of a law that created a tax credit for people who donate land, buildings or construction material to help develop low-income housing.”;”

This would be in keeping with Wright’s/Cone’s “black theology” which states that blacks should acquire PROPERTY, would it not?

  6. on November 6, 2008 at 8:57 am SayitAin'tSoJoe

Steve, sorry…I do realize you wrote about casting your write-in vote and unfortunately I should have said you made a case MORE for voting for Obama than against him even though YOU wouldn’t put him in the WH. I’ll admit to having egg on my face for not being more exact in my wording.

The point I lamely tried to make was, that if we use the theory of the only reason putting Obama in the WH was to show the US and specifically “white” people were voting against discrimination than what does that really say about us?

It’s not like IL doesn’t have a huge proportion of blacks in office and it’s not like the people of IL don’t know about the corruption going on in their state, so I am stymied as to why Obama would get a mandate from the people in IL.

Does proving “whites” don’t discriminate trump truth and honesty with the people?

    Again, sorry for not being more accurate about your vote for Bob :;

Perhaps people vote for the wrong candidates because they think the POTUS is all powerfull, and hence his D or R is responsible for all woes and such. During this election (esp. at YouTube) it was amazing how many fall for the Fallacy of Omnipotence surrounding the POTUS. Also, in the Boston Globe (?) piece on one of the social housing projects of Obama, the board was run by black Democrats – yet the bilked tenants thought it was white Republicans running the project. Don’t forget that black liberation theology etc. is popular in many of those vote-generating neighbourhoods, and Rich White People is trumpeted as the cause of all the worlds ills, and in the popular mind all Republicans are Rich White People. Heck, even Murtha got re-elected after he called his own constituents ‘racists’, just because he didn’t have a ‘R’ after his name.

    On the graft issue:

Surprised we haven’t seen Karl Rove’s name. He seems giddy with delight at this election. Perfectly giddy.

  11. on November 6, 2008 at 8:48 pm SayitAin'tSoJoe

I heard a rumor that Obama was going to pick some head honcho from Goldman Sachs as his treasury guy. Anyone else hear that? Talk about a walking disaster if that is true. He picks someone who bellied up Goldman to run the US Treasury. Shouldn’t be surprised though huh?

The surprises from Barack Obama, it seems, are unrelenting.

Just after our historic Presidential election, here is some BREAKING NEWS regarding Barack Hussein Obama that may shock you. After you discover this secret of Obama’s (text and photographic evidence included), please share the information with friends and family.

The clock is ticking. Americans need to know the truth!

“Does proving “whites” don’t discriminate trump truth and honesty with the people?”

I think we need to answer “yes” to that question, at this point. In addition, it was more important for many blacks to get a Kenyan-Kaukasion-Amerikan into the WH, than to elect the right person for the job. Dear Leader’s track record of “helping” black consituents in South Side Chicago and Illinois is horrible. In addition to Rezko, Habitat/Valerie Jarrett bilked taxpayers, and residents of the Habitat managed slums. That may be “change”, but it sure doesn’t look very “hope”ful. BHO has continually turned a blind eye to the plight suffered by low-income housing residents, all at the hands of friends and associates like Alison Davis, Valerie Jarrett and Tony Rezko. That is NOT leadership!
