“Team Cuba” — Ayers, Dohrn, just “two political activists” from Obama’s neighborhood, visited Cuba in September 2008

If the MSM had any difficulty, or even cared about, finding unrepentant domestic terrorist and Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers, or his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, during a week this past September, it was perhaps because they didn’t know where to look — or, most likely, weren’t looking.

The radical couple had made a little offshore visit to that four-letter island off Florida’s coast in the company of this lady, Chicago composer, flutist, and performance artist — and longtime Kenwood resident, a.k.a. Obama neighbor, and supporter — Janice Misurell-Mitchell, Co-Artistic Director of CUBE Contemporary Chamber Ensemble in Chicago since 1989, and wife of University of Chicago English and Art History professor W.J.T. Mitchell, also an Obama supporter.

How do we know? Well, thanks to sharp-eyed RBO reader jr, we have the Winter 2008 CUBE Ensemble newsletter that says so.

So, how did the Ayers-Dohrn “political activists” manage to travel to Cuba? Looks like they may have qualified as “full-time professionals“:

Full-time professionals whose travel transactions are directly related to professional research in their professional areas, provided that their research:

(1) is of a noncommercial academic nature, (2) comprises a full work schedule in Cuba, and (3) has a substantial likelihood of public dissemination.

Full-time professionals whose travel transactions are directly related to attendance at professional meetings or conferences in Cuba organized by an international professional organization, institution, or association that regularly sponsors such meetings or conferences in other countries. The organization, institution, or association sponsoring the meeting or conference may not be headquartered in the United States unless it is specifically licensed to sponsor the meeting. The purpose of the meeting or conference cannot be the promotion of tourism in Cuba or other commercial activities involving Cuba, or to foster production of any biotechnological products.

It shouldn’t be “dismissed” but the claims should be real, thus far really they have nothing to do with Ayers. They have been about terrorism, and in today’s society that means he is a Muslim….

While I am an Obama supporter, if this issue was taken in a way that shows this I would listen more. However, when it is used as propaganda to divide on religious grounds it disturbs me.

However, I would mention that to me the bombing was bad. The protest against the Vietnam was wasn’t…

Terra, please don’t insult our intelligence here. This is only a blip on the radar of what Bill Ayers and Bernie Dohrn are and stand for. Can you honestly believe you could spend upwards of 10 years in someone’s presence, someone who still holds these beliefs, and not only not know about it but not have enough God-given sense to distance yourself — as far away as possible, from someone like this? Someone who hand-picked his retinue to ensure that they were cop-haters. And who continues to surround himself with Communists and revolutionaries. What does that tell us about you? Ask yourself.

Did Ayers Dohrn get paid by the Cubans for what ever they did down there as professionals?

Would it seem conspiratorial to speculate the FBI / CIA / NSA and so on have lengthy files on these folks (and Obama?) not to mention the files Maliki has on Obama and Alsammarae / Rezko?

I’ve never seen a President-to-be with so many people who will have dirt on him….

Bill, most assuredly the FBI/CIA etc have lots more on Ayers, Dohrn, et al. These records are heavily redacted. Formerly stamped TOP SECRET, the parts that are available are only those parts which have been declassified.

As for the rest of the Obama fan club, you forgot to mention DoJ, DoD, State … and on it goes. Besides all those folks, New Party, DSA, CPUSA, etc. that he owes his initial Illinois “win” to … He is owned and owes ..

Some of our colleagues have resigned themselves to a very interesting first term .. for as long as it lasts.

I would and I do. I have associations in all walks of life, including a lot that are not what I would think of as “correct” I like different ones for different reasons. Just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean I exclude them from my life.

Once again my problem with the argument (made not here but other places) is that he is a Muslim terrorist, this insinuates that Obama is a Muslim terrorist, and this is the card that was played by a lot of McCain supporters.

I do not think now or ever that Obama has agreed with these views (the ones that are expressed by Ayers).

I live in what is essentially a retirement area, and the majority of people here are racist (against American Indians, against Mexicans, against Jews, against well anything but themselves), and against religions (Catholics, Muslims, ect and so forth), does my association with them mean that I agree with them? I think not

No one suggests Bill Ayers and Dohrn are Muslims, there have been many groups involved in terrorism over the years with the same political perpective (e.g. FARC in Columbia, Rote Armee Fraktion in Germany, SLA and Weather Undergorund in the USA, CCC in Italy, PKK in Kurdistan). Trying to play the ‘creed-card’ is rather nonsensical in this regard, Terra.

I can’t see myself being a “friend” of Ayers or Dohrn any more than I could see myself being friendly with a known pedophile. The greater point is, if people like Ayers/Dohrn and all the other communist/marxist/socialist associates of Obamas are so unhappy with the way of life our founding fathers intended us to have, then they should LEAVE the US. I sure don’t want someone like Ayers teaching my children or their children. Look at the educational system out of Chicago. Look at the crime rate in Chicago. Is the radicalization of the school system by Ayers and his cronies responsible for the soaring crime rate in Chicago? Does anyone really believe if you train a child at an early age to be radical that they won’t carry those same beliefs and teachings throughout their life? It’s already proven that Ayers’ form of teaching doesn’t work and I have to wonder if the monies he gained from Obama while sitting together on the board at Annenburg didn’t somehow find its way into Cuba or Venezuela. What a great cover for a money laundering scheme.

I just love the authoritarian lefties. They travel to countries like Venezuela and Cuba to laud their systems and bash America. America, the nation that affords them every opportunity, including the freedom of speech. The two countries that they are so enamored with would NOT allow the level of dissent that Ayers, Dohrn and their radical friends display and spew. They would find themselves in prison quite quickly.

These whack jobs turn my stomach. They eat of the forbidden fruits of the capitalism they despise, all the while conspiring to bring the system down. They are still very dangerous, however hypocritical they seem at times… especially the (God help us) future President of the Known Universe.

I just want to mention I wasn’t suggesting you were making that connection. I am saying that normal people, are making that connection. In America today if you say the word terrorist it is largely attributed to the “creed card”… Go to youtube, and type in Obama and Muslim or Obama and Ayrs and that is what you will get a lot of.

I was commending you on the fact that you weren’t one of those average people making that leap. I do not agree with the conclusions you draw, but I don’t have anything against what you have to say…

Then I hear that Obama has made CUBA a first priority in terms of foreign policy????? WHAT–because NOW ITS PAY back time–where do you think he got all that money??? Lets do an INVESTIGATION independent of his campaign of where that MONEY he got came from!! Always follow the money trail!
