Sen. Barack Obama slips up on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos and refers to his “Muslim faith”.
For those who think this was taken out of context, here’s the ABC News link for the interview. The “oops!” is at the 2:48 minute mark (counting backwards from 5:40).

What is “fair to say”, in fact, is that an off-balance Obama, in an unguarded moment, said three words that undid all of the carefully crafted efforts by his campaign to conceal his muslim family, his muslim childhood, and his adult muslim connections.
Because if Obama were not a Muslim, he could not possibly have said “My Muslim Faith” and indeed, “my Christian faith” would make no sense in that context. He might have said “accusations that I am a muslim” or “claims that I have muslim connections”
Even Obama’s attempt at recovery — “what I’m saying is that he hasn’t suggested … that I’m a Muslim” is in no way equivalent to, or a substitute for, “John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith.”
Common sense dictates: Obama could never have said “my muslim faith” — using the first person possessive — unless it was an integral part of his identity.
It confirms, at the very least, the accusations, and not just from Republicans — that “perhaps I’m not who [sic] I say I am when it comes to my faith.” Yes, it would seem to be a concealment that has “been going on for a pretty long time, indeed, most of a lifetime of hiding three tell-tale words that could not have been spoken by anyone but a believer: “my Muslim faith.”

Obama was talking about supporters of John McCain suggesting that he, Obama, is Muslim. Obama was saying that this is untrue, that he is Christian. However, he was admitting that John McCain, himself, has not suggested that Obama is of the Muslim faith. Not a Freudian slip.
Lynn, I did watch the show this morning. No, Obama did not say he was Muslim, but the ‘mistake’ was a huge one since there has been an ongoing question about his faith. It’s not a matter of taking it out of context. It’s what has been said for 19 months–who is this man. Who and what are his connections? He wants to be President of the United States. I watched it and thought “oh oh, here we go”. George corrected him, and they fumbled back to the topic at hand but, what a blooper. Obama was shook through the whole interview. He appears to be good at rehearsed speeches, but bad on one on one questioning. This could be the reason he doesn’t like the town hall concept. I think he was just nervous, and they WERE talking about Muslims, but why was he so nervous? I am pissed you can’t comment anywhere on his website. I also found you can’t even get into the website without donating. I was for him and I am getting leary now.

While we are all entitled to our opinion, I must say that those that do not see any problems with The One being a Muslim, and lying about it, just are not properly informed about Islam. Islam’s track record on the treatment of women should be enough to convince almost anyone.

Sure. If people were repeatedly referring to me as if I was Muslim, and I was frustrated with this torrent of incorrect information, it could very well happen in the course of attempting to explain my feelings on the situation.
It’s like when Condoleeza Rice accidentally called W. her “husband.” Why? Because people in the tabloid media kept insinuating that there’s something between them, and she was clearly preoccupied with these allegations.

I dont think it was an accident. All of the comments and everyone who is against Obama is like “ooohhh he just admitted he was Muslim” no he didn’t. All he said was that “McCain did not highlight his Muslim Faith.” I agree, what he should have said was “McCain did not highlight the accusations that I could have been Muslim.” Trust me, politicians have all of their speeches and questions done before the cameras go on and he knows better than to say something like that on TV. I think the interviewer made it worse by correcting him, no Barack meant what he said.
His mistake seems to indicate his true faith. The problem is with so many sites and so much media coverage trying to disprove this for months, will it really make any difference? How many people will see this? Even worse will anyone believe it after the campaign and all the media coverage?
I don’t know that America really needs a Muslim leader with all that is going on in the world. I hope this wakes a few people up but I would bet the farm that it won’t.

I have heard that there is pressure on polling organizations not to include a separate category for “muslim voters” in religious polls as the results are likely 80% or more for Obama. We see how Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant voters are voting by why the silence on Muslim voters from polls? Possible that Obama campaign has threatened to discredit any polling organization that publicize such information as partisan/racist? Perhaps sounds far fetched but most reporters are afraid to use Barak’s middle name if that is any indication of how delicate this subject is.
