Rev. James Meeks (R) and Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. (L)
Sorry, my friends, but you just can’t make this shit up.
Here’s Rev. James Meeks—an Illinois State Senator and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)’s spiritual adviser and delegate—ranting from the pulpit August 4, 2008, calling for a school boycott.
Meeks says they need “the white money”. Reparations anyone?
Meeks makes the statement at the 1:40 mark but watch the whole segment from Chicago’s ABC Channel 7 News.
Our citizens may be deceived for awhile, and have been deceived; but as long as the presses can be protected, we may trust to them for light.--Thomas Jefferson.

My State funds education in a similar manner to IL, via local property taxes. Like IL, there are large disparities from one school system to the next. It is all about the tax base and rate at which towns/cities fund the schools, not about color.
It sounds to me like Chicagoans need to throw their Mayor out on his keester, if he can’t find a way to properly fund and run the Chicago schools. The same people ranting about “The System” are part of it and “The Machine”. As long as the people keep putting the likes of Obama, Meeks and Daley in office, they are going to reap the same results.
Why do these guys always blame white people for their problems? I am so sick of this.
Meek tends to blame homosexuals too…he blames a lot of people.
MEEKS needs to go to his “good” friend Obama and see if they cannot set up another “[Annenberg Challenge]” and do so much good for the schools…(Huge failure where Obama was director of board under BILL AYERS) wasn’t this aimed at helping schools Meeks just once to be like
Obama and other dirty politicians and set up “funds” for the poor and do nuthing good but line their pockets….
What happened to seperation of church and state? I live in a far northern suburb, my children go to public school and I have to pay about $1,000 each year for H.S., we pay about $500. for bus, $250. for books, $250. for fees and if the kids don’t bring a lunch we pay about $5. a day there is no discounted milk or food. The grammar school is a about a third less per student and that’s after taxes, I don’t think Meeks wants to come here.
Why doesn’t Meeks name Barack Obama in this tirade? After all, Obama had two positions where he could do something about it. As a State Senator, how come he didn’t fix this problem??? As a US Senator, how
come he hasn’t fixed this problem? He fixed this problem the same way he and Rezko fixed the Housing problem.
Mr. Meeks has got a lot of nerve pulling that annoying, no-longer-effective overused race card. Mr. Obama is not “Whitey”. And he’s the guy on vacation not us Whiteys who have to listen to this maniac spout his hate crap on video.
Hey Meeks: Stuff a rag in it, call Hawaii and spew your shit to the REAL problem person. Tell him to get his skinny ass back home and DO something for his district for a change.
This shit is wearing so thin that everybody I know cannot WAIT to get to the polls on November 4.
correction: “to positions” should be “Two positions”. [Note: fixed]
I’m just so sick of watching these maniacs blame me for everything short of cavities, I can’t even type straight any longer.

If, as Meeks says, New Trier spends $17,000 per student and the schools in his district spend $10,000 per student, I would venture to guess that the almost the full amount spent in Meek’s district comes from subsidies or the government. New Trier is probably one of the wealthiest public schools in the entire country. Given that he is comparing the two extremes, a seven thousand dollar difference does not strike me as so outrageous.
Why doesn’t he consider the other reasons those students are failing? When my family immigrated to the U.S., we had NO money at all. We were poor as poor could be. But my parents were educated. I could read by the time I was 4, my parents always took me to museums and galleries. My dad took me to work sometimes so I could learn how to behave around grown-ups and in a work environment. They valued education. We didn’t spend all day watching tv or playing video games. They also taught me to work hard. If I got an A- my parents scolded me and made me study harder until next time I got an A. Reading is free. The public library is free. Learning is free. Schools are not the only place to learn and should not be the sole venue for a child’s education. I learned just as much, if not more, from my time at home and outside school.
Money won’t solve any problems if parents don’t do their jobs and treat schools like daycare. Money won’t change a thing if you do not value education over material wealth.
Uppity, you forget that when “Whitey” started fluoridating drinking water, he only did it in “his” neighborhoods.
There you go. Write the check.
Cheers,
AA
Exactly, Sandra! The “rich” schools get that 17,000 per student because of their property tax, they get little to nothing under the school aid formula which is based on a district’s wealth, or lack thereof. I think we really do need to fund Meek’s schools to the same extent we fund New Trier — give him what he wants — and he will be getting a pittance of what he is getting now from the state for his schools. He’s a state senator and he knows damn well about the school aide formula, he is just race baiting — he and O, two peas in a pod.
jaxon you are right maybe Meeks to start with Obama’s and william ayers neighborhood for their tax brackett
oh yea Obama’s and ayers kids don’t go to PUBLIC schools…hea hea
or better yet go to REV. wright’s neighborhood GOD i hope Chicagoians get out of this
this strangle-hold of dirty politics so the people and city can get the
benefits of the $$$ that has been alloted for all these projects
and stop lining the pockets of all these “do-gooders aka community activists”
Meeks is interested in one thing making money for himself, if it wasn’t for the race issue nobody would give him a second look, look at jeremiah wright he may rail against whites but has no problem moving into a mansion in all white tinley park, there a lot of money to be made in the race baiting industry and people like meeks knows how to profit from it.
