Obama arrived in Israel on July 22, 2008. Today, he “moved through a busy day of meetings” with Israeli and Palestinian officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu.
Samson Altman-Schevitz, the head of the Israel for Obama campaign, “moved to Israel two years ago from Chicago, where Obama’s wife, Michelle, was his adviser at the University of Chicago.”
Obama visits Israel and the Holocaust memorial. Right on cue, his uncle, Charles T. Paine, recalls “when his infantry division liberated Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the Nazis’ Buchenwald concentration camp.”
